Only a few months after the start of their work, the participants of POLITO Studio have already achieved their first milestones: united in the grouping TDH – TURIN Design Hub, they are among the five finalist consortia in the competition for the Meiguan Innovative Corridor in China.
The TDH group is made up of the 12 architecture studios selected through a call for entries and protagonists since April in the POLITO Studio project, the workshop course designed by the Polytechnic University of Turin and the Association of Architects to deepen all the soft and hard skills needed to participate in architecture competitions in China.
The first workshop was held in July and September, with two appointments focusing on the cultural, technical, and procedural tools that are indispensable to be able to deal with a contest in China. The architectural and urban design competition for the Meiguan Innovative Industry Corridor of the Shenzhen Design Centre was chosen as a concrete work opportunity. This is one of the hearts of the Greater Bay Area, a strategic economic and political area with cities such as Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Shenzhen at its center, which has undergone major urban transformations in recent years.
The TDH proposal was selected in the first phase from more than 21 applications received from as many groups: the next step will be the elaboration of graphics, render, video and 1:500 scale model to be delivered in the second phase by November 15th.
The first important milestone that proves that the POLITO Studio project of the Polytechnic of Turin and the Association is going in the right direction, succeeding in its intention to promote the skills of Italian designers at an international level.
